Massa Lubrense, where the coast slows down
Away from the crowds of Sorrento and Positano: a village of fishermen and terraced lemon groves above the sea. Everything on foot, nothing rushed.
-
Marina della Lobra
The little harbour, four minutes away: boats, a church by the water, two trattorias.
-
Ieranto Bay
A path descends to one of the clearest bays in the Mediterranean, cared for by the FAI.
-
Punta Campanella
The tip of the peninsula, where Capri feels an arm's length away.
-
The trails
Old mule tracks link the hamlets through olives and broom, far from the roads.
What has always been done here.
-
Swimming at Ieranto
A path through the olive trees descends to the bay protected by FAI. No beach clubs, no motor boats: you arrive on foot and swim in the clearest water on the peninsula.
-
The Punta Campanella trail
The ancient way to the sanctuary of Minerva ends where the land ends: a lighthouse, the wind, and Capri so close it seems within reach.
-
Evening at Marina della Lobra
Four minutes on foot and the village opens onto the little harbour: boats pulled ashore, a church on the sea, two trattorias where the sea decides the menu.
-
Spaghetti alla Nerano
Fried courgettes, provolone del Monaco and a secret kept for seventy years: the most imitated dish on the coast was born in the bay next door, and that is where it should be tasted.
Maria Giovanna
I welcome you personally on arrival. I know the fishermen at the Marina, the lemon growers on the slope, the trails that lead to Ieranto. What I know, I share when asked. The rest of the holiday stays yours.
